Eligibility

You are eligible to apply for a position with the Cancer Cell Biology Training Program if you meet the following criteria:

  • You have permanent US residency status
  • You are a rising 2nd or 3rd year UNC Graduate Student
  • You work with a current (see Faculty) or future CCBTP Preceptor on a project related to cancer
  • Thesis project and future publications are related to cancer

How to apply:

  • Student curriculum vitae, including undergraduate GPA
  • Research project title and proposal (1/2 page, single spaced)
  • Short statement on why you want to join CCBTP

The faculty preceptor and one other recommender should submit these items directly to Iman Hedadji at cancertraining@med.unc.edu:

  • Letter of recommendation from the UNC faculty preceptor
  • In addition to the recommendation for the prospective trainee, the preceptor’s letter should include a statement attesting that the trainee will remain an active, cancer-focused member of the CCBTP until graduation, and document availability of funding to support the student’s research beyond the student stipend provided by CCBTP
  • Letter of recommendation from an additional faculty member who knows the student well, such as a committee member
  • Both letters should explain how the applicant would benefit from joining the training program and what they would add to the program
